Mulch and Spring Trees

This is what 15 yards of mulch looks like!  Did not seem like a lot when they dumped it, but after about 100 or so trips (and more yet) it will seem like plenty! The wild plum has been in full bloom and we just planted a beautiful crab apple tree (pink spires crab). Cheers to Spring!!

Have a great Easter weekend!  The first shrub to bloom here is the forsythia and it is in full bloom-beautiful!

Spring Surprise!

I was out raking this afternoon and "lo and behold" I saw a couple of crocuses blooming.  I put them in the ground last Spring from a living floral arrangement, but didn't think they would probably come up, or survive a rabbit attack--but here they are!

A beautiful day to get out and work.  Some areas are frost free and we can easily rake up the old leaves and debris from winter.  Looking forward to greening up (if we don't get any snow)!!

Let the fun begin!

Almost ready to paint!  Stripping the wallpaper (and ceiling paper) off was probably the most labor intensive job I have ever done.  But, now I can think about getting paint and finishing up the room so it will be nice and fresh for Spring.  Speaking of Spring--about 40 degrees today.  Haven't seen this nice of weather since November.  Are we due for some nice melting weather?

Ground Hog Day

January is finally over--but it really looks like Winter!  Puxatawny Phil did see his shadow so we know we have six more weeks of winter left (NOT a surprise here in Minnesota).

---still steaming wallpaper and making slow progress-can hardly wait to finish this task so we can get on with the fun stuff (painting, new linens, etc)

Out with the old-in with the new!

Just starting a really big project!! The Garret (formerly the Music Box) is getting a new look! As much as I like wallpaper, it is time for a change. I am probably looking at about a week's worth of steaming the old paper off (had been papered on both walls and ceiling!) before any prep work can start. Will be nice and fresh for Spring!

California

We are back from our holiday in California. Had a great time visiting family and came home with new inspiration! I would love to have any suggestions or feedback on how I could make our bed and breakfast even better in the coming year!
